Two teenagers were rescued from the sea in Ostend on Thursday evening, according to local police, who said one of the victims had to be resuscitated.
The incident took place shortly before 7 p.m. in the Mariakerke district. Lifeguards had finished their shift at 6:30 p.m. but, soon after, the two minors went back into the water, where they found themselves in trouble and had to be rescued.
Both victims were taken to hospital. It is still unclear whether their condition is life-threatening.
The Ostend police are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
