One of two 17-year-olds injured in a knife attack in Leuven on Friday evening has been discharged from hospital, according to the Leuven prosecutor’s office.
“The second victim should also be able to leave soon,” the spokesperson said. “The injuries were less severe than initially feared.”
It transpired that the victims and assailant were acquainted, dismissing earlier fears of an unprovoked attack.
The attack took place around 5 pm at Martelarenplein’s bus station next to the train station.
Both teenagers had to be taken to hospital, with one’s life initially hanging in the balance.
