Belgium’s electricity and gas network operator, ORES, has noted a surge in late solar panel declarations, echoing a similar trend in Flanders, where Fluvius reports that nearly a quarter of declarations are late.
Since the start of this year, both companies have witnessed a significant increase in the number of tardy solar panel declarations. Fluvius attributes this trend largely to the elimination of grants for the installation of such panels in Flanders.
Solar panels installed in Wallonia must be registered with distribution network operators (DNOs) within 45 days of approval by the certified inspection body, RGIE. Wallonia has five DNOs: ORES, RESA, REW, AIEG, and AIESH.
The rising number of solar panels imposes a greater burden on the network. It is therefore crucial for installations to be registered promptly to enable DNOs to respond efficiently, operators say.
