Local police in the Geraardsbergen/Lierde area have seized four kilograms of narcotics and €8,000 in cash following a traffic check in Geraardsbergen.

“This is an important step in our fight against drug trafficking in the region,” said Police Chief Patrice De Mets.

In early August, a vehicle was stopped by the Geraardsbergen/Lierde police. “During their check, officers found a large quantity of amphetamines, cannabis, and money,” reported the local police.

This discovery prompted further actions to map out the network. The efforts were overseen by the HIT team, a swift proactive unit composed of investigators, special intervention forces, and community police services. They received support from intervention and traffic teams on the ground. Additionally, a sniffer dog from the Aalst police zone assisted in the operation.

The suspected dealer was arrested and brought before the investigative judge in Oudenaarde, who ordered his detention, which has now been extended.
