Residents of the Kennedy Tower in Liège, where a fire broke out in June, began collecting personal belongings from their homes on Tuesday, according to building manager John Aendekerk.
Electricity works have been carried out to make the apartments habitable again soon, while insurance experts have already visited to assess the damage.
On Tuesday, residents were able to enter their apartments for the first time since the 24 June fire, to retrieve personal belongings.
Since there are 220 apartments, not everyone could access their homes in one day, so this will continue on Wednesday.
Aendekerk reported that everything proceeded calmly and most residents were even surprised at the state of their homes. “Most expected it to be worse,” he said on Tuesday afternoon.
The 24 June fire tragically claimed three lives.
