The Federal Buildings Agency has begun installing solar panels on the roofs of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, the strategic cell, and the Ministry of Interior.
A total of 242 panels will be installed, resulting in an estimated annual saving of around 27.88 tonnes of CO2.
Out of these, 110 panels will be placed on 14 and 16 Rue de la Loi, which house the strategy cell and the Prime Minister’s Chancellery. The remaining 132 panels will be installed at 3 Rue de Louvain in Brussels (Ministry of Interior).
The combined power capacity of the 242 panels is 141.57 kWc. The average annual yield of these photovoltaic panels totals 121 megawatt-hours (MWh), equivalent to the annual consumption of 40 households, according to the Buildings Agency.
The total cost of the installation is €148,840 (including VAT). The work is expected to be completed by the end of March.
