On Saturday morning, police in the Antwerp district of Hoboken arrested a driver after he caused substantial damage on the Antwerpsesteenweg. The driver hit around ten parked cars, a house, a container, a lamppost, and a tree.

Despite the collision, the driver and his passenger were not seriously injured and did not need to go to the hospital. The driver passed both breath and saliva tests, which showed no signs of intoxication.

An investigation is underway to determine whether excessive speed was a factor. The Antwerpsesteenweg has been closed by Antwerp police to allow for clean-up operations and potential towing works, which may take all day.
