On Saturday alone, British authorities recorded 1,194 migrants crossing the Channel in small boats, marking the highest single-day total this year, according to figures compiled by the French news agency AFP.
This brings the total number of migrants making the crossing illegally in 2025 to 14,808, despite extensive efforts by both the French and British governments to curb these crossings.
French maritime authorities reported on Sunday that they rescued 180 migrants between Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
AFP data also shows that since the beginning of this year, at least 15 migrants have perished attempting to cross the Channel.
