Proximus has dismissed Surash Patel, chief revenue officer of Proximus Global and managing director of BICS, according to confirmation from the telecom company to the business newspaper De Tijd on Tuesday.

Proximus Global oversees three international subsidiaries aiming to become a leader in digital communication: BICS for connectivity, India-based Route Mobile for communication technology, and US-based Telesign for cybersecurity.

During the half-year results presentation, it was revealed that the international division fell short of expectations in both revenue and profit, forcing Global to retract ambitious growth targets.

Consequently, Proximus shares dropped by nearly 10%, leading to the termination of senior executive Patel, who had only been appointed at the end of last year.

The dismissal is part of the ongoing transformation of Proximus Global, spokesperson Fabrice Gansbeke told De Tijd.

In the interim, Patel’s roles will be filled by Ben Vandermeulen, head of the residential market at Proximus, as chief revenue officer of Global, and Jorn Vercamert, currently chief product officer of Global, will temporarily take charge of BICS.
