Police have brought water cannons and tear gas to counter demonstrators in Brussels on Sunday afternoon who are protesting against covid measures.

More than eight thousand people took part in the demonstration today, according to the police.

The march reached its arrival point, near the Place Schuman late afternoon on Sunday, according to Belga news agency.

The first speakers were giving their speeches when a group of people started to throw projectiles at the police officers present.

They also fired fireworks at the officers. Police retaliated with water cannon and tear gas.

It is currently not known if anyone was injured or if the police has made any arrests.
