On Monday evening, a man pulled a gun when he was asked to show his Covid Safe Ticket (CST) before being allowed to enter a bar in Rotselaar, in the Flemish Brabant province.

The incident took place on Monday evening in bar De Zijbeuk in Rotselaar. As required by the coronavirus rules, the man was asked for his CST when he wanted to take a seat.

However, instead of his smartphone, he pulled out a gun, owner Joppe told Het Laatste Nieuws.

"He came across as very confused and apparently had some problems at home," he said. "I also think he did not know how the CST worked, but I do not really know. I did not feel threatened really, but it felt very bizarre."

Outside the bar, the man fired a shot, but no one was injured during the incident. The weapon was confiscated.

The police took in the man for questioning. Some other clients were also questioned.
