Roads risk being slippery on Saturday night and Sunday morning, mainly to the south of the Sambre-Meuse Valley, according to the Royal Meteorological Institute (KMI).

From midnight on Saturday until Sunday morning at 09:00, slippery conditions can be expected as a result of the showers on Saturday and the cold temperatures overnight.

"Frost will develop in the east and locally in the centre of the country. Mainly south of Sambre and Meuse, local ice patches may develop when the moisture on the roads from previous showers freezes," a statement on the KMI website read.

Temperatures are expected to drop overnight to between 0°C and -3°C south of the Sambre-Meuse Valley and could plunge even lower in some of the valleys of the Ardennes. Elsewhere, temperatures will be around 0°C in the centre and 2°C to 3°C at sea.

According to KMI, Sunday will be sunny at first in most regions, but towards midday and in the afternoon, clouds will form. It will remain dry almost everywhere, with only a very local chance of a shower.
