Code 1722 is a non-emergency that can be called to alert emergency services when a situation is not life-threatening.
The FPS Interior activated the line after the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI) issued a code yellow for thunderstorms.
- This summer will be hotter than average as 'seasons are disturbed by global warming'
- High ozone concentrations measured on Saturday, threshold exceeded in Brussels
According to the code yellow criteria for RMI, 10–30mm of precipitation may fall in one hour, leading to flooding risk.
If your life is in danger, it is advised that you call the emergency services number 112. Code 1722 is only for non-emergency services.
