From this afternoon, severe thunderstorms are expected in Flanders and Brussels, with heavy rainfall, hail, gusts and lightning. The storm is expected to pass by 18:00.
Code 1722 is a non-emergency that can be called to alert emergency services when a situation is not life-threatening.
The FPS Interior activated the line after the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI) issued a code yellow for thunderstorms.

According to the code yellow criteria for RMI, 10–30mm of precipitation may fall in one hour, leading to flooding risk.
