The 37th edition of Belgium's 'largest organic fair' will highlight ecological transition

The 37th edition of the Valériane fair, “the largest organic fair in Belgium,” will take place from 2 to 4 September at Namur Expo under the theme of ecological transition, its organisers said on Monday. Just over 200 exhibitors have confirmed their attendance.

The areas to be covered at the event are organic agriculture and food, the environment and organic gardening, “eco-bioconstruction”, renewable energies, crafts, organic textiles and cosmetics, and ecological and solidarity tourism.

For three days, the fair will host 40 conferences and workshops. Most of these activities are free. However, it will be necessary to register on site.

The great novelty of this 37th edition is a space dedicated to young “eco-friendly” entrepreneurs, a dozen of whom will be there with kefir, accessories for dogs, clothes, pasta sauces, infant cereals, food products made from crickets and even medicinal and aromatic plants.

The programme further includes a new wool demonstration area, a place for sharing and advice on knitting, run by volunteers from the Nature & Progrès association.

Craftsmen will also make hives out of woven rye straw, perpetuating the traditional methods of basketry, which will be demonstrated at the “La Récré Buissonnière” stand.

In 2021, the Valériane show attracted some 8,000 visitors.
