RSC Anderlecht's women’s team booked its berth in the final of the first preliminary round of the UEFA Women's Champions League on Thursday evening.

Playing in Lodz, Poland, the ladies in purple and white made up a double deficit against home team UKS SMS Lodz, before going on to clinch an eleventh-hour 3-2 win.

After more than half of the game, things had looked dire for trainer Dave Mattheus' squad, reeling from goals by Lodz's Anna Redzia in the 13th minute, and Dominika Kopinska in the 49th.

However, the Belgian side righted the imbalance thanks to strikes by Alexis Thornton, in the 57th minute, and Lola Wajnblum, in the 66th, before Thornton added the winning goal in the 91st minute.

RSCA will now play Finland's KuPS in the final of the first qualifying tournament.
