Death on Charleroi-Sud train tracks deemed accidental

The Charleroi Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Friday afternoon that the death of a 46-year-old man who was discovered on the tracks at Charleroi-Sud station earlier this week was accidental.

On Wednesday morning at around 07:00, the victim's lifeless body was found by a train driver on the train tracks, with one of his legs being torn off by a passing train. As a result, train traffic had been stopped before resuming at midday.

The case was put under investigation to shed light on the circumstances behind the incident, however, the Charleroi Public Prosecutor's Office now confirmed that the victim's fall was accidental.

Meanwhile, the circumstances behind his fall are still unknown.
