Stolen Bruxelles Propreté uniforms spotted on Code Rouge activists

Bruxelles-Propreté on Wednesday distanced itself from the action of the Code Rouge, the collective behind the blocking last weekend of two TotalEnergie sites in Feluy and Wandre.

The Brussels agency said it had discovered through social networks that several activists wore uniforms bearing its logo during the protest.

These uniforms were stolen in 2021, it said in a press release.

”We would like to point out that these uniforms were downgraded by Bruxelles-Propreté about 10 years ago. The stock was to be used to produce bags via our Recy-K circular economy sector, but it was stolen in 2021," Bruxelles-Propreté explained. "Following the theft, a complaint was filed.”

The agency added that it does not in any way distribute or donate clothing bearing its logo.

On Saturday and Sunday, hundreds of activists from the Code Rouge collective, comprising around 20 organisations, including Greenpeace, Fian Belgium, Youth For Climate and Extinction Rebellion, blocked the two TotalEnergie sites to denounce the responsibility of the fossil fuel industry in the climate crisis.
