From Monday 17 October until 12 December, 27 portraits by the photographer Arnaud Ghys will be displayed in 27 cultural venues in Brussels to raise awareness of the right to culture.
This exhibition has been organised by the Article 27 association, which refers to the article in the Declaration of Human Rights which states that everyone has the right to take part in culture.
The portraits represent workers committed to defending the right to culture and "reveal their unvarnished faces, without masks, and remind us of the critical need of being together," explained the organisation.

"Taking part in cultural life is a universal, inalienable and interdependent right just like any other human right," they added. "It is neither the right to a luxury nor the right to a guilty pleasure."
These portraits are going to be displayed at the Ancienne Belgique, the Halles de Schaerbeek, the Maison du Livre, the Musée des Égouts, the Théâtre de Poche and Wolubilis.
