The popular messaging service WhatsApp is working again after a breakdown that started around 09:00, reports Meta, the company that provides the service.
"A number of people experienced problems sending messages via WhatsApp today. We have fixed the problem and apologize for the inconvenience," Meta announced.
Among others, users on the website downdetector and on Twitter reported that the service was no longer functioning properly.
It is not yet clear what caused the breakdown.
Earlier today, users around the world reported that the app was no longer functioning. As a result, Meta, formerly known as Facebook and who owns WhatsApp, had verified that the app was not available.
