A major explosion caused by a gas leak took place around noon on Monday in an apartment on Rue des Pierres in the centre of Brussels.
Images published by the Brussels Fire Department show glass debris on the ground and in the street next to the apartment, which was located near the Boulevard Anspach and the Ancienne Belgique concert hall.
According to Brussels Fire Department spokesman Walter Derieuw, no one was killed and only one person was injured by the explosion.

Derieuw added that the apartment itself, however, had sustained major damage. The fire was extinguished soon after the Brussels firefighters' arrival.
The police has warned both pedestrians and vehicles to avoid the Rue des Pierres as well as all adjacent streets.
