International rail traffic (Thalys, TGV and Eurostar) to France, which was interrupted early this morning due to ice on the overhead lines, resumed around 11:30 on Saturday, Infrabel said.
The two trains which were stopped at Ruisbroek in Flemish Brabant, got moving at around 11:30am after being stationary for around three hours: “The Thalys went back to Brussels-Midi station while the TGV continued on to France, its final destination”, explained Jessica Nibelle, spokesperson for Infrabel.
Contrary to previous reports, Nibelle said that the passengers of these two trains remained on board and were not evacuated. There will be major delays throughout the day for all international traffic.
Domestic traffic is hardly affected by the winter conditions, the railway infrastructure manager confirmed.
