As Christmas took place over a weekend, most shops and services will open and operate as usual on Boxing Day (26 December) in Brussels and the rest of Belgium.

While packages, letters, newspapers and other mail will still be delivered, all post offices will be closed on Monday. Post Points, Parcel Points and Parcel Machines are still open, as are sorting centres and MassPost centres are open.

Most banks will also be closed on Boxing Day, to make up for the usual bank holiday on 25 December (Christmas Day), which now fell on a Sunday, when banks are already closed, according to the official Belgian federation of the financial sector Febelfin. As usual, digital payment services do continue to work.

All administrative services across the country will be closed on Monday. Requesting documents online and on the citizen portals remains possible.

The Winter Fun ('Winterpret' in Dutch, 'Plaisirs d'Hiver' in French) market in the centre of Brussels will also remain open the entire week between Christmas and New Year.

Counting Boxing Day as a regular day of the work week, all major supermarket chains – Carrefour, Delhaize, Colruyt, Lidl, Aldi – will open on Monday as usual. The same goes for most Proxy, Shop'n'Go and Okay stores. Most other stores will also be open as normal.

The main shopping centres in the Brussels Region: City 2, Docks, Bruxsel, Woluwe Shopping Centre, Basilix and Westland Shopping, as well as White Cinema in Docks will also remain open.
