A human skull found on 18 December in Sorinnes Forest in Dinant, Namur Province, will soon be examined by an anthropologist, according to the provincial prosecutor's office.
The skull was found by a hunter but was not turned over to the police until 27 December. Several other bones, said to be very old ones, were found.
The Federal Police's Victim Identification Service examined the skull on Wednesday and now a law clerk will find out if there is a link to any existing court file.
“For now, the file is losing judicial relevance,” the Namur prosecutor’s office said. One possible theory the court is considering is that the bones are those of soldiers from World War II.
