Three self-styled pedophile hunters lured a 37-year-old man from Mechelen to Antwerp on Sunday, then beat and robbed him, according to a report first carried in the Gazet van Antwerpen, then confirmed by the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office.
The attack took place on Sunday night on Antwerp’s Left Bank.
The 'pedohunters,' approached their victim via social media and posed as a 14-year-old girl who wanted to meet him. The man accepted the invitation, only to be met by a group of men, who dealt him several blows and robbed him of his wallet, cell phone and cigarettes.
The victim suffered minor injuries and, perhaps against the expectations of his attackers, notified the police.
That same night, three suspects were arrested. One of them has since been remanded into custody by the examining magistrate. The two others were set free conditionally.
