About 3.2% of English and Welshmen identify as LGBTQIA+

About 3.2% of English and Welsh people identified as LGBTQIA+ in 2021, according to a survey on sexual orientation and gender identity conducted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

About 44.9 million persons above the age of 16 took part in the voluntary survey.

Of these, 1.5 million (3.2%) identified themselves as LGBTQIA+ while 262,000 (0.5%), reported that their gender expression differed from their biological sex at birth.
