A house and three vehicles were damaged by an explosive device in Mechelen on Sunday night, local police said. According to the report, a kind of firework was used.
The incident took place at around 03:20. "Residents called us because they heard the sound of explosions," the police said. "On the scene, we found that a window and the front door of a house, as well as three vehicles, were damaged."
The Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (SEDEE) and forensic laboratory attended the scene. An investigating judge has been appointed.

The investigations will seek to ascertain whether this attack – which has many of the hallmarks of similar acts committed in Antwerp – is linked to the drug scene.
This is the third case of this kind in Mechelen in a few weeks.
