Liège will mark the 120th birthday of Georges Simenon with a festival from 8 to 11 March entirely dedicated to the novelist.

The cultural event, described by the organisers as rich, is the result of collaboration between the University of Liège (ULiège), John Simenon, the author's son, and the City of Liège. It will offer a diverse programme.

Entitled “Le Printemps Simenon” (The Simenon Spring), the event aims not only to pay tribute to the Liège-born author but also to help people discover and rediscover his work through exhibitions, conferences, literary meetings, a show, a film retrospective and a thematic walk.

“The Simenon Spring in Liège is the key moment of his 120th anniversary, even if other events are organised elsewhere, such as in Switzerland, for example,” commented John Simenon.

The vast majority of the events on the programme are free, accessible without reservation, and aimed at all audiences.
