The Flemish Government has to recover €125 million euros in overpayments of Covid-19 state aid, the Flemish Economy Minister Jo Brouns (CD&V) announced on Thursday.

The regional government had allocated €2.52 billion to set up various schemes for businesses during the pandemic, which were received by 192,000 companies.

At the same time, various measures were taken to track down overpaid state aid, of which €73 million have already been repaid, leaving another €52 million to be recovered.

A number of cases have also been referred to the courts, with 200 of them currently pending according to Brouns. Towards the end of last year, that figure stood at 163.
