Just under 2 million Belgians watched King Charles III coronation

Belgians demonstrated their affinity with their neighbouring country, Great Britain, having tuned in en masse to the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday. Just under 2 million Belgians witnessed the televised ceremony.

The viewing figures were summed up from the various channels and platforms where the coronation was shown.

With the results in, one thing was clear: the ceremony was resoundingly more watched in Flanders. More than 1.6 million Flemish people tuned into the coronation ceremony of Britain's King Charles III on Saturday.

In French-speaking Belgium, an average of 200,948 people watched the special broadcast about the coronation on La Une (RTBF), and 140,084 on RTL.

When breaking the viewing figures down in Flanders, VRT 1 and VTM broadcast the ceremony from 9:30 to around 15:30. A total of 715,126 Flemish people watched the broadcast on VRT 1 for at least 10 minutes. VTM talks about "a reach of 909,000 viewers."

At the peak moment (around 13:00), 413,993 viewers followed the coronation on VRT 1. On average, it was 266,480 viewers.

An average of 164,000 people watched on VTM. Another 150,000 people watched the coronation via the platform HLN Live, and 53,600 via VTMGO.
