Man stabbed to death in Brussels neighbourhood

A deadly stabbing occurred on Sunday evening at around 18:30, at the corner of the Chaussée de Wavre and the Rue d'Edinburgh, in the Matonge district of Brussels.

The victim died in hospital as a result of his injuries, according to information from RTL Info, confirmed by the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office.

"On Sunday, May 26, 2019, at around 6:30 pm, a man was the victim of attempted murder on the Chaussée de Wavre, at the crossroads with Rue d'Edimbourd, in Ixelles. The victim, a 32-year-old male, was reportedly stabbed several times," said Magali Jeumont, spokesperson for the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office.

"The prosecutor's office was notified at that time of an attempted murder. They went down to the scene and referred the matter to an investigating judge. A medical examiner was required. The victim died last night," she continued. The investigation is actively ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the facts, says the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office.

So far, no suspects have been arrested.
