Concertgoers looking to use their phone to take photos a recent show of artist Jack White were faced with a first for Belgium, no phones allowed in the concert hall at Cirque Royale.

The reason came from the American artist and his group 'The Raconteurs', who had requested that no smartphones be out during the duration of their show."

It's above all for the comfort of the audience according to Lalo Medina, the band's manager.

"When you go to the cinema or the opera, you're not on your phone... Why should it be different for rock 'n' roll. For 95% of the audience, it is an incredibly positive experience," said Medina.
