A new high-speed train line connecting Paris to Brussels may be coming sometime in 2020 if the Italian train company Trenitalia is approved to operate in France.
Thello, the French branch of Trenitalia, notified the Regulatory Authority for Railway Activities, a French government agency that regulates rail transport, about its intentions to operate trains in France.
If Thello receives permission, it plans to first create a line between Paris and Milan, which would open in the summer of 2020, according to New Mobility.
Thello wants to expand its international train service, and one of the next lines it wants to open after Paris-Milan would be Paris-Brussels.
