A fire in a six-storey building in the Walloon municipality of Anderlues, which took place during the night from Sunday to Monday, could have been started on purpose, according to the firefighters who responded on site.

Firefighters were called at 1:00 AM for a fire in the Cité Jardin du Fief. The disaster plan was triggered, and about ten fire trucks and emergency services were sent to the scene.

The fire started in the cellars and spread to the sixth floor, trapping several people including children, reported the fire brigade. Several people were rescued, and no one was injured, with only a few occupants slightly intoxicated by the smoke.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is ongoing at this time.
