The western half of Belgium is under a yellow alert for thunderstorms until 21:00 on Wednesday, the Royal Meteorological Institute (MRI) said.
The storms could affect Brussels, Walloon Brabant and Hainaut until the early evening even as the rain is expected to gradually disperse this afternoon.
The MRI also issued a rain warning for the entire country that lasts until 15:00. The risk, especially to Flanders, is the large amount of rain that will fall on the already-wet soil in a short time period.
