A 35-year-old man was arrested and remanded in custody at around 6pm on Friday.

The Namur Prosecutor’s office said he is suspected of arson in Florennes and making death threats in Yvoir.

The man tried to commit suicide by setting fire to a mattress inside his house, but the fire didn’t spread to the rest of the house. “The man was very disturbed. He didn’t want to go to hospital, so we had to take him. He made death threats against his brother-in-law while he was in Mont-Godine hospital in Yvoir. The psychiatrist said he knew exactly what he was saying”, the Namur Prosecutor’s office revealed.

The case has been forwarded to an Instruction court.
