Starting in 2020, the metro station at Brussels Central Station will undergo five years of renovations.

Brussels Mobility will do work on the utility lines, then STIB will start work on the platforms, station entrances and exits, and install access gates, according to Bruzz. Brussels Central Station does not currently have access gates.

Unused rooms will be eliminated, and exits and entrances will be widened, along with lifts and platforms.

The renovations will take five years because the work will be carried out in different phases so as to not disrupt passengers and travel too severely.

The renovations are expected to cost 20 million euros. The funding will come from Beliris, which is a collaboration between the federal government and the Brussels-Capital Region.
