Almost half of all drivers at speed checks in Laeken last weekend exceeded the speed limit.

From Saturday night to early Sunday morning, police were positioned at Avenue de la Reine and Avenue Van Praet in Laeken with speed cameras, according to Bruzz.

At the Van Praet Tunnel towards the A12 motorway, 43% percent of drivers exceeded the speed limit, which is 50 km/hr. 38% of drivers on Avenue de la Reine heading to the city centre were speeding.

The speed limit on Avenue de la Reine is 50 km/hr, but two drivers were found driving 88 km/hr. Two licenses were taken for speeding during checks at that location.

One person was caught driving 91 km/hr at the Van Praet Tunnel. During the night, five driving licenses were revoked for speeding at that location.

Police also carried out drug and alcohol checks at three places in Ixelles. 19 drivers tested positive for either alcohol or drugs, and one license was revoked.
