Collision with roadworks on Brussels ring road leaves three injured

Three people have been injured in an accident on the Brussels ring road which saw two vehicles collide after one driver crashed into the concrete blocks set up during roadworks, according to reports on Wednesday.

The driver of a vehicle crashed into the protecting barriers and the car behind collided into it, reportedly unable to steer clear of the first crash.

Emergency services, including the fire brigade an ambulances, rushed to the scene of the accident en masse, after it took place at around 10:30 PM on Tuesday, according to Bruzz.

In order to free the trapped passengers, firefighters had to cut open the roof of one of the cars.

The couple riding in the vehicle which drove into the road works sustained slight injuries and the driver of the other vehicle was injured as well.

The collision, which took place near the exit to Beersel, to the south of the capital, saw traffic interrupted in the area for a few hours.

With the roadworks originally scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, it remains unclear whether the accident will cause delays.
