One injured after building collapses in Molenbeek

A building on rue Vandenboogaerde in Molenbeek collapsed Friday at around 11.50 am.

Three construction workers were working inside the three-floor building as it collapsed.

One of them was injured and transported to hospital, said Walter Derieuw, spokes-person for Brussels fire department.

In the meantime a building opposite has been evacuated for security measurements, as well as a nearby crèche.

“Luckily nobody was living in the building and nobody else besides the workers were inside,” explained walter Derieuw.

“The building has been sealed off and fire fighters are awaiting instructions from the building’s architect or engineers, to decide on what to do next,” he added.
