A two-year-old girl has been found dead in an apartment in Seclin, near Lille, northern France.
The child was discovered on Thursday afternoon in her mother’s flat. The mother and her partner have been taken into custody.
The body of the child bore marks of physical assault, with a source close to the investigation hinting towards a “swollen face”.
An autopsy was carried out on Friday and checks are currently ongoing. The circumstances surrounding her death are still unknown.
