Last year, 9,677 complaints were recorded for unsolicited calls to people already on the “Don’t call me again!” list, De Zondag reported on Sunday. There had never been so many cases.
This list allows people to stop receiving advertising telephone calls, and contains no fewer than 1,548,841 telephone numbers, figures from the Minister for the Economy, Pierre-Yves Dermagne (PS), show.
Companies are obliged to respect this list and not to contact the numbers on it for commercial purposes. But not all comply with this principle. In 2022, the FPS Economy received 9,677 reports of unsolicited calls, a record since the list was launched in 2015. In 2020, there was talk of 6,237 reports and 9,223 in 2021.
The law is currently being adapted so that operators are obliged to inform their subscribers that they can refuse the use of their number for marketing purposes at any time.
