Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksij Reznikov has thanked Belgium, and in particular his Belgian counterpart Ludivine Dedonder, for providing Kyiv with “continued support” against Russia’s “brutal” invasion.
Reznikov, who resigned on Monday after several corruption scandals involving his ministry, sent a message to the Belgian minister on the same day, Minister Dedonder’s office said.
“I sincerely thank you for your continuous support to Ukraine in repelling the brutal and unprovoked invasion. We greatly appreciate your continued assistance, which plays an important role in the fight against Russian aggression,” the letter read.
“At this time, it is very important that we strengthen our efforts to successfully continue the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian armed forces,” Reznikov added in the letter, a copy of which was provided to Belga News Agency.
Reznikov also welcomed Belgium’s decision to join the ‘F-16 coalition’ led by the Netherlands and Denmark with the aim of supplying fighter-bombers of this type to Ukraine and training pilots.
