Belgians woke up to a frostier morning on Saturday with temperatures dropping to 10°C, with the colder weather expected to continue into the night.
Alternating sunny spells and cloudy fields will make up Saturday afternoon, which should generally remain dry, although a few showers could break out in the Ardennes and the north of the country.
The thermometer will not rise above 13°C in the Hautes Fagnes and 17 to 18°C in the lowlands, forecasts the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM). The wind will be moderate, except around the coastal areas.
Large swathes of sunshine will light up the country in the evening, while the night will be spent under high clouds.
The colder spell will persist overnight, with temperatures expected to hit a minimum of 8°C in Brussels.
Mist, fog and clouds could make an appearance, especially in upper Belgium. The IRM predicts that the mercury could fall to 0°C in some Ardennes valleys. In other regions, lows will fluctuate between 6 and 10°C.
Belgians will be greeted by bright sunshine on Sunday morning, except in upper Belgium, where the cold will continue. The thermometer will warm up a little, with 15 to 20°C forecast.
Maximum temperatures will continue to climb up a few degrees as the week progresses, with 21°C on Monday, rising to 23°C on Tuesday and 22°C on Wednesday.
