Man stabbed in Charleroi shopping centre

A man was stabbed in the thigh on Monday afternoon at the Ville 2 Shopping Centre in Charleroi, Hainaut, according to the Charleroi prosecutor’s office.

The suspect remains at large, and is yet to be identified.

Emergency services were called to the scene to attend to the injured man. An initial report suggested serious injury to his femoral artery. However, it was later ascertained that this was not the case.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the two people involved may be undocumented migrants.

The victim is receiving medical treatment at a hospital and will be questioned later.

An investigating magistrate has been appointed, the judiciary authority added.
