A De Lijn bus driver on Wednesday evening resuscitated a man in his sixties who was unconscious in the entrance hall of a bus terminal in Sint-Niklaas in East Flanders.

The bus driver had just pulled his bus into the Stationsplein bus terminal for a bathroom break. In the station's entrance hall, the driver found an unconscious man who was not breathing and had no heartbeat.

The bus driver immediately began to resuscitate the unconscious man while he waited for an ambulance and the Mobile Emergency Group (MUG) to arrive, Nieuwsblad explains.

A fire brigade team that was on its way back from a call and happened to be nearby arrived quickly at the scene. The firefighters took over from the driver.

Although the resuscitation was successful, the man was nevertheless admitted to the hospital in a very critical condition.

His current condition has not yet been confirmed.
