On Tuesday, twelve people were apprehended as part of a large-scale investigation into a criminal network, following raids across Limburg, Namur and Liège.

Searches were also carried out in Spain and the Netherlands, leading to two further arrests. The operations were conducted under the auspices of an investigative judge from Tongres, digging into a criminal organisation involved in international drug trafficking, as well as setting up and organising synthetic drug production and storage sites.

A synthetic drug lab under construction was discovered in Gingelom, in the Limburg province. Weapons, cash and narcotics were also found at various locations. The suspects are scheduled to appear before the investigative judge in Tongres on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Both in Spain and the Netherlands, one person in each country was detained following these operations. These two suspects will also be presented to the Limburg judge after being extradited to Belgium.

The Limburg Federal Judicial Police cooperated with Spanish, Dutch, German and Italian units for this investigation.
