A vehicle became trapped on Wednesday evening after mistakenly driving into the pedestrian entrance of Brussels' Jette station, leaving the vehicle hanging over a set of stairs, Sudinfo reports.

At around 20:30 on Wednesday, the vehicle drove through the square in front of the station and partially down the stairs at the entrance to the station, most likely mistaking it for an entrance to the station's car park.

The vehicle became suspended with its front wheels hanging over the set of stairs to the pedestrian tunnel under the station. No one was injured in the accident but a tow truck had to be called to free the stranded vehicle.

The station has made a request to municipal authorities to install clear signage to ensure the incident does not happen again.

The stairs to the pedestrian tunnel are currently the only way in or out of the station, which has been without elevator access for several months.
