The Government of the Brussels-Capital Region, which met on Thursday for the first time since the end of the summer break, has taken several decisions arising directly from Wednesday’s Consultative Committee meeting on the energy crisis.
The government confirmed that the buildings of the regional administration will not be heated above 19 degrees in winter, and not cooled below 27 degrees in summer.
The lighting of buildings and monuments will be switched off at certain times, but the regional government has stated it is also relying on the private sector to take other special measures to reduce its energy consumption.
The Minister in charge of Energy, Alain Maron (Ecolo), has been given the task of consulting shortly with the social partners in Brupartners, the Economic and Social Council of the Region, as well as with the Council of Environment, an advisory body of the Region.
The aim is to propose collective “sobriety measures,” such as the compulsory closing of the doors in heated or cooled places, the turning off the luminous panels outside opening hours and the limitation of illuminated advertisements.
