A police chase for a reckless driver in Laeken on Tuesday evening during which he endangered vulnerable road users came to an end when he crashed.
On Tuesday around 18:30, the Brussels Capital/Ixelles police zone received a call regarding a so-called rodeo driver near the Rue Alfred Stevens, between the Jette cemetery and the Royal Domaine of Laeken.
Moments later, the vehicle which carried a non-Belgian number plate, was spotted at Square Prince Léopold. Officers arrived at the scene and asked the driver to stop, however, he fled.
This led to a chase "in which the driver ignored several red lights and also seriously endangered the safety of pedestrians and other road users," a police report read.

Back in Rue Alfred Stevens, the driver lost control of the wheel and crashed into a bollard and a bicycle, after which the police were able to intercept the driver and his passenger.
Although the driver denied being behind the wheel during the pursuit, his driving licence was revoked for 15 days by order of the public prosecutor's office, while the car was administratively impounded.
