About 350 firefighters gathered again on Friday outside the offices of the Brussels Secretary of State in charge of Firefighting and Emergency Medical Assistance, Cécile Jodogne, to protest against the reform of their remuneration system.

The firefighters had already mobilised on Monday and Wednesday, the first two days of negotiations between their representatives and Jodogne.

They are opposed to a draft bill that includes their operational bonus and offside benefits in the financial statute on operational employees of the Firefighting and Emergency Medical Assistance Service, SIAMU, adopted by the Government of Brussels on May 23.

The firefighters had no immediate plans to take to the streets as they had done on Wednesday but were waiting for news from the negotiations to decide on their next steps.
